This page provides the information you need to apply for a new driver’s license, to renew a driver’s license or to transfer a driver’s license from another state. Note on Hours

Written Tests are issued from 8:00AM - 3:00PM only. Vehicle Registration for Out of State Transfers and Salvage Vehicles 8:00AM - 3:00PM only. Please make an appointment. Same day appointments are being offered at the Kona Vehicle Registration & Licensing office. We are accepting walk ins for driver's licenses that are expired or will be expiring within 30 days at our Hilo office. We apologize for any inconvenience.

All correspondence should be addressed to: VRL-Driver License, 349 Kapiolani St., Hilo, HI 96720. We are unable to process correspondence in Pahoa, Ka’u, Waimea and Kona.
