Animal Control and Protection Agency is the newest agency of the county of Hawaii, reporting directly to the mayor’s office. It has been in existence since July 1, 2023. We are in the process of building the department, operating procedures and infrastructure that has never been attempted in such a way within the county or in the state. We service an area the size of a medium state of about 4000 square miles with some of the roughest terrain in the nation.
Animal Control and Protection services the entire county and is dedicated to supporting our growing population of residence and animals. The agency will continue to grow and build upon the foundation set by the county to provide the best possible service.
